After being named the 2011 Truck of the Year by Motor Trend magazine, there was only one way for Chevy to make the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD even better. For 2012, Chevrolet is releasing a special edition Silverado HD in honor of some of their most loyal customers: Texans.
The 2012 Chevy Silverado Texas Edition, according to Dave Nottoli, Regional Director, Sales & Marketing, Chevrolet, it's the Chevrolet Silverado HD, but the automaker "gave it some attitude."1 Nottoli went on to explain that one out of every six heavy duty pickups sold in the United States is purchased in Texas. With that in mind, he said, "When you take the capability of the Silverado HD, then add the features and amenities of the Texas Edition, we think it will be a hit here in the Lone Star State."2
So, what are the features added for those lucky Texans? Let's start with the trailering package and auto-locking differential, and then move on to the auto climate control, 6-way power driver seat and entertainment features that include a CD player, USB port, steering-wheel mounted controls and hands-free Bluetooth. For convenience, Chevy added power camper mirrors complete with turn signals; fog lamps; an EZ-lift tailgate; and six-inch assist steps.
There will be two distinct Texas Editions: the 2500HD and the 3500HD, and both will be available with all of the above features. Of course, the 2500HD and the 3500HD will remain true to their respective trim's powertrain, performance, size and hauling capabilities.
While you might not be able to get your hands on a Texas Edition Silverado here in Costa Mesa, you will find the well-equipped Chevy Silverado 2500HD and the Chevy Silverado 3500HD here at Connell Chevrolet, 2828 Harbor Blvd. Costa Mesa, CA 92626. And who knows, maybe one day soon, we'll see a California edition of one of our favorite new Chevrolet models? One can only hope.
